Previously I had worked with the Prinz Optics glass combining it with
other materials to create vivid imagery. I wanted to try and test its
qualities. I decided to break up the glass to create interesting shapes, thus
allowing different forms to develop. This was to gain further imagery for my work,
which will feed into my prints, but also to see if I could develop the glass
into something more. Seeing whether its qualities could be more than just
aesthetically pleasing but something wearable. The structure that I have
created is limited and impractical, one because of the scale, and two because
of its structure. I want to work on developing it, creating something that can
move, or be draped onto the body, but still keeping the idea of the multicolour
and aesthetic visuals. I have recently received email from glass tutor Kristeen
Aubrey, who is looking to work with students from textiles. I have a tutorial
with her next week, so I can talk through my ideas and see if she can
accommodate them to create something wearable.
